Welcome
The first day of March, and there is finally an improvement in the weather (at least for those of us not in Scotland). Today there was sunshine and blue sly - although it was still cold! Spring is about a month behind - but maybe when it does arrive it will come in a great rush of colour and blossom and cheer us all up. I think we need it!
Seasonal Specials
Our special for late February is Hazelnut Ice Cream with Coffee Liqueur - full of flavour and texture.
Our special for March will be Kiwi and Orange Ice Cream. Neither fruit is locally sourced, but both are at their best at this time of the year, and, packed full of Vitamin C, will give a real boost against some of the horrible bugs that seem to be going round at the moment. Serve with a warm orange marmalde sauce. Gently warm fine cut orange marmalade with fresh orange juice, stirring well to combine. Use roughly equal quantities:If you prefer your sauce runnier, add a bit more juice. When piping hot, pour into a heat-proof serving jug. Scoop the ice cream into bowls and allow your guests to pour the hot sauce over the frozen ice cream in their dish.

We have entered three of our products into the Heart of England Fine Foods Diamond Awards this year. Last year we won the overall prize for 'Taste' with our Gooseberry & Elderflower Ice Cream. We had to enter some different flavours - the rules do not allow you to enter a product that has won previously. The judging was last week, so we are waiting to hear how we got on - look out for an update in next month's newsletter!
