SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
The predicted heatwave in August did not materialise, though the sun did shine for the Bank Holiday and it seems like we're having a bit of an Indian summer this week. I'm ignoring the reports of snow in September that were in some of the national papers last week and looking forward to a mellow month.
SEASONAL SPECIALS
The Strawberry, Meringue and Pink Peppercorn Ice Cream, which was last month's special proved popular for such an unusual flavour. Our serving suggestion is a scoop of ice cream in a meringue nest topped with a fresh raspberry coulis. Our new special is Plum and Pecan Ice Cream, made with Avalon plums grown at Castle Fruit Farm near Newent, Gloucestershire and crunchy pecan nuts.
NEWS
The damson crop is looking good this year with some of our growers starting to pick this weekend. Some are reporting that the recent rain, although very welcome after such a long dry spell, has split the fruit, so they are having to check it carefully as they pick. Overall there should be enough as Damson & Sloe Gin is still our most popular flavour.
AWARDS
No further news on awards as we do not hear about the Flavours of Herefordshire awards until the end of October.
EVENTS
Just Rachel attends events such as food fairs, fetes and shows, where members of the public can buy ice cream in cones and tubs. It is a good chance for you to try our products and we can tell customers where the nearest outlets to buy our ice cream and desserts are. Events booked to date are:
Moreton in Marsh Show 4th Sept 2010. I had decided not to do this show as the organisers had increased the price by £100, but now they have dropped the price back down, so will be attending.

Alcester Food and Drink Festival 24th May 2011
